Notre Dame may play in the 2020 CFB Playoff, says an expert.
The Fighting Irish had a relatively solid season in 2019, but it was mired by losses to the two best programs they faced.
Notre Dame lost to both Georgia and Michigan this year, thus not earning a bid to a New Year’s Six bowl game.
Brian Kelly’s squad was instead relegated to playing Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl.
Notre Dame ultimately ended up winning that outing 33-9, ending the year with a ton of momentum.
Recently, 247Sports college football insider Brad Crawford released his prediction for where the Fighting Irish will play their bowl game in 2020.
He thinks there is a very good chance that Notre Dame has to play North Carolina in the Orange Bowl on January 2.
However, Crawford also believes that there is a chance that Kelly’s squad will challenge Florida for the No. 4 seed in the College Football Playoff.
“Notre Dame, with Ian Book back, could battle Florida with a matching 11-1 record for that fourth Playoff seed,” Crawford said.
Will Notre Dame ultimately qualify for the 2020-21 College Football Playoff? We are a little less than one year away from finding out once and for all.
