Notre Dame Announces Major Coaching Change
Notre Dame announced a major coaching change on Thursday.
At the end of the regular season, Brian Kelly revealed that he and offensive coordinator Chip Long were parting ways.
With Long out, the question of who would call the offensive plays for Notre Dame in its looming bowl game arose.
On Thursday, it was announced that quarterbacks coach Tommy Rees would take over Long’s play calling duties for the Fighting Irish’s Camping World Bowl game against Iowa State.
It remains to be seen if Rees is ultimately the one to step in and replace Long on a full-time basis.

Rees previously played for Notre Dame between 2010 and 2013. With him on the roster, the team reached four consecutive bowl games and the BCS Championship Game.
When it was all said and done, Rees finished his playing career at Notre Dame with 7,670 passing yards and 61 scores.
Interestingly enough, Rees actually played in Notre Dame’s Camping World Bowl game back in 2011. That day the Fighting Irish fell to Florida State 18-14.
It remains to be seen how Rees will fare this time around.
