Miami Making Big Coaching Change After Bowl Game Loss
Miami is making a big coaching change its bowl game loss.
Coming into the season, many hoped that this would finally be the year that the ‘Canes would compete for the conference crown.
Obviously the program would not be able to legitimate challenge Clemson, but a nice 9-4 campaign like the one Virginia ended up having seemed somewhat realistic.
Unfortunately, Miami ended up having yet another middling, unimpressive campaign in 2019.
Coming into Thursday’s Independence Bowl showdown against Louisiana Tech the team was 6-6 on the season. A win would have secured the ‘Canes a better than .500 mark, which at least would have been a symbolic victory of sorts.
Instead, despite being seven-point favorites entering the game, Miami got humiliated on the big stage and lost 14-0.
First year head coach Manny Diaz did nothing to impress this season, but it appears his job is secure.
One major coaching change that is happening, however, is the departure of offensive coordinator Dan Enos.
According to Tim Reynolds, this season was Enos’ final with Miami.
Barring a significant change in plans, the Miami Hurricanes and offensive coordinator Dan Enos are expected to part ways after today’s Independence Bowl.

It remains to be seen where he lands after this, but the Louisiana Tech game notwithstanding he has actually been pretty highly regarded in college football circles.
Enos spent five years as the head coach of Central Michigan before moving to Arkansas under Bret Bielema.
After three years at Arkansas, Enos accepted a job at Michigan, but ultimately resigned shortly thereafter to accept a job at Alabama under Nick Saban.
Enos spent one year as the quarterbacks coach at Alabama before moving to Miami.
This past season, Enos did his best to deal with Miami’s mess at quarterback with N’Kosi Perry, Jarren Williams and Tate Martell.
It remains to be seen who Miami ultimately fills their new vacancy with, but after what transpired against Louisiana Tech, it is clear that a major change of some sort needs to be made.
