Is D’Eriq King transferring to LSU a done deal?
One day after the Tigers won the college football National Championship Game, it appears the program is on the verge of another big victory.
On Monday night, King announced that he would be leaving Houston and taking his talents elsewhere. Although he did not specifically cite where he would end up, that did not prevent speculation from running rampant.
King is a unique talent. Over the course of four games this year he recorded 663 yards and six scores through the air as well as 312 yards and six scores on the ground. Any team he joins will instantly become better.
According to odds makers, the current betting favorite to land King is LSU.
With Heisman winner Joe Burrow entering the NFL Draft this year, an opening at starting quarterback has opened up for the Tigers.
Given the sort of year Ed Orgeron’s program just had, it is easy to see why any available passer would want to suit up for them.
According to 247 Sports, the odds for landing King are as follows: LSU (+250), followed by Arkansas (+300), Miami (+500), Oregon (+600), Florida State (+800), Michigan State (+1500) and Oklahoma (+2000).
Miami and Oregon were recently considered favorites to land transferring Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman, but he ultimately went to Georgia instead.
It remains to be seen if those programs experience a similar fate this time around, with LSU take the Bulldogs’ place.
