Ed Orgeron’s crazy LSU contract bonus was revealed on Tuesday.
Fresh off his memorable college football National Championship Game showing, Coach O is arguably the biggest star in the sport.
The year he and his Tigers put together in the face of adversity was among the most impressive in recent memory. The fact that USC had the opportunity to retain him and let him walk to LSU makes the story all the sweeter.
For his tremendous performance in 2019-20, Orgeron is receiving a nice bonus from his school.
According to USA Today, Coach O made himself $1.8 million in bonus cash with Monday evening’s big victory. That places him at the very top of the list when it comes to bonus money earned by coaches this year.
The only person that came close to him was Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal, who made $1.175 million in bonus dough.
Coach O will likely take some time to revel in this victory before ultimately getting back to work.
Next season he will have to figure out a way to keep LSU competitive without Heisman trophy winning quarterback Joe Burrow.
Burrow is considered a lock by most to go number one overall in the looming 2020 NFL Draft.
