College Football World Reacts To Sarah Fuller’s Historic Debut (Video)
Sarah Fuller became the first woman to ever play in a Power Five college football game on Saturday when she kicked off for Vanderbilt in their showdown against Missouri.
Because the Tigers came into the game 3-3 and Vandy 0-7, the historic element of the kickoff was pretty much the only thing folks tuned in for.

Almost immediately, the reactions began to pour in on social media. They were largely what you’d expect.
Clearly a publicity stunt. They have a healthy kicker dressed today and made no effort to try the men’s soccer team out. Vandy just trying to have a single football highlight this season.

Helen Keller could have kicked a better ball than that

I didn’t want to say this but I saw when she was warming up barely making 20 yarders she doesn’t have anywhere near a good enough leg
Hoped she did have the leg but had a feeling I was right— Nathan Middleton (@nathanjm000) November 28, 2020

Fuller plays for Vanderbilt women’s soccer team. She was offered the opportunity to play due to Vanderbilt’s kickers being in quarantine because of COVID-19.
“She’s got a strong leg. We’ll see what that yields,” head coach Derek Mason told ESPN. “We’ll figure out what that looks like on Saturday.”

Fuller, for her part, was very excited before the game.
“I think it’s amazing and incredible,” she said. “But I’m also trying to separate that because I know this is a job I need to do and I want to help the team out and I want to do the best that I can. Placing that historical aspect aside just helps me focus in on what I need to do. I don’t want to let them down in any way.”
