Clemson Quarterback Transferring To Different Program

A Clemson quarterback is transferring to a different program.

Backup passer Chase Brice announced this past week that he was leaving the Tigers.

On Thursday, he told Greg Arias of Vanderbilt Maven that he was discussing a possible transfer to the Nashville, Tennessee, institution.

Clemson is currently stacked at quarterback. Between Trevor Lawrence entering his junior campaign and youngster DJ Uiagalelei arriving on the scene, there will be no snaps to spare in the foreseeable future for Brice.

That is why he made the decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Brice previously considered a move to Georgia, but the school’s recent Jamie Newman acquisition has apparently deterred him.

In two years at Clemson Brice has recorded 1,023 yards and nine scores on 80 completions in 23 outings. On top of that, he also recorded 187 rushing yards.

Vanderbilt could badly use an upgrade at quarterback. This past season, all the passers on the roster completed an average of 53 percent of their throws. Between them, they amassed 10 touchdowns.

All in all, Vanderbilt went 1-7 in the SEC in 2019 and finished 3-9 overall.

It remains to be seen if Brice will ultimately be able to change that when he comes to town.
