Auburn coach Gus Malzahn mocks Nick Saban and Alabama in comments he issued to the media this week.

On Monday night, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne released an angry statement regarding his school’s Week 4 outing versus Southern Miss.

What got him so upset? The noon eastern kickoff.

“We are disappointed that our game against Southern Miss has been selected as a daytime kickoff at home,” he said.

“We realize we’ve played more non-conference day games at home in September than any other SEC team since 2014.

“There have been a number of conversations with our conference office, and they also recognize the challenges these kick times present for our student-athletes and fans.”

The reason Alabama’s game against Southern Miss is getting a noon kickoff is fairly straight forward: it’s going to be a massacre.

Alabama will destroy Southern Miss and nobody wants to see that over some of the more fun SEC showdowns this weekend.

During a press conference this week, Auburn head coach Malzahn took a bit of a shot at Alabama over their whining.

After being asked about his team’s 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday against Ken State, Malzahn jokingly said he wanted to kick off at noon instead.

“Personally, I wish it was at noon, so we’d have more time to prepare for our next opponent,” he said.

How will Saban and Alabama handle this shot?

Well, we’ll know for sure when they take on Auburn on Saturday, Nov. 30.
