Alabama Is Getting Its Scott Cochran Replacement
Alabama is getting its Scott Cochran replacement sooner rather than later, it would appear.
Earlier this week, the SEC was essentially turned upside-down when it came out that Cochran was ditching the Crimson Tide for Kirby Smart and Georgia.
As one of Nick Saban’s seemingly closest confidants and someone who had been with him for every single championship he won, Cochran seemed like someone who would never leave – and particularly not to a rival school.
Saban was so livid about the move that he quietly bashed Cochran in subsequent interviews. He essentially wished his strength and conditioning coach well through gritted teeth, but then noted that he was only leaving because Alabama was not willing to give him the job that Georgia ultimately did.
Moreover, according to reports, Saban also prohibited Cochran from saying goodbye to any of Alabama’s players.
In a report on AL.com, Matt Zenitz noted that Alabama is currently in the process of interviewing Kansas State strength and conditioning coach Chris Dawson this week.
With nearly 20 years of experience in a similar role to Cochran’s, he has to be considered the favorite to land the job for now.
Dawson has been Kansas State’s strength and conditioning head since 2010. Before that, he worked with Kansas for six years between 2003 and 2009. Prior to that, he made his bones between 2001 and 2002 at Minnesota.
Not that it matters all that much, but Dawson is also a former player. He served as a linebacker for Oklahoma in the early 1990s.
Sounds like Alabama has started the in-person interview phase of finding its replacement for Scott Cochran.

According to multiple reports, the Crimson Tide have also looked into Oregon’s strength and conditioning coach Aaron Feld to fill in for Cochran.
One way or another, whether it’s Dawson, Feld or someone else entirely, it is clear that Alabama is going to move quick on replacing Cochran.
Will it be someone who can be just as key to the program’s success, though? Time will tell.
