Cleveland Browns Rejected By Head Coach Candidate

The Cleveland Browns were rejected by a coaching candidate on Tuesday.

After firing Freddie Kitchens on Sunday evening, Cleveland assured fans that it would cast a wide net in its search to fill the vacancy.

One of the names on the list of people to interview was Baylor head coach, Matt Rhule.

Well, as it turns out, Rhule had zero interest in being hired by the Browns.

According to ESPN, Rhule rejected the Browns’ request for an interview.

Rhule is something of a hot commodity on the coaching scene and is expected to interview with both the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers.

It would certainly be understandable if he selected either of those openings over the one at Cleveland, but to not even want to interview with the Browns certainly sends a strong message.

Rhule will begin interviewing with the NFL teams he does respect after his Bears play in the Sugar Bowl on January 1.

Meanwhile, Cleveland will move along with the interview process by speaking to New England Patriots coordinator Josh McDaniels and former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
