Did the Cleveland Browns not like Josh McDaniels?

On Friday, the Browns announced that they were interviewing McDaniels to be their next head coach. He was the final scheduled interview. After that, a decision would be made.

McDaniels flew to Cleveland with his wife. Throughout the entire process he has been the presumptive favorite to land the position.

A few hours after the interview between McDaniels and the Browns began, it ended.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, no offer was extended. The Browns will reportedly “take their time” before making an official hire.

Given that McDaniels literally traveled to Cleveland with his family, it does not seem like a particularly positive sign that he was not simply offered the job.

If anything, it makes it seem like Browns management didn’t really like him and that he didn’t blow anyone away.

Cleveland also interviewed Kevin Stefanski, Jim Schwartz and Eric Bieniemy over the past week for the role. At this stage, it feels like this could be anyone’s game.

McDaniels previously served as a head coach in 2009-10. He led the Denver Broncos to an 11-17 mark and was promptly fired.

Will he get a chance at head coaching redemption? Time will tell.
