Clemson Star Announces Surprising Return To Program

A Clemson star announced his surprising return to the program this week.

Running back Travis Etienne was seen by most scouts as a guaranteed Day 1 or Day 2 selection in the looming 2020 NFL Draft. Generally speaking, when collegiate players get those kinds of reviews, they leave.

Etienne decided to do the opposite.

On Friday, the talented running back posted a letter to social media indicating that he will be back for one more season with the Tigers.

“When I arrived at Clemson in 2017, I was just a kid from Jennings, Louisiana with a dream of becoming the best football player and best man I could be,” he wrote.

“Coach Swinney, Coach Elliott, my family, my teammates, and so many others have helped me reach for that dream every single day, and I will always be thankful for their belief in me as a player and as a person.

“Speaking of dreams, I have long dreamed of competing at the highest level and getting the chance to compete in the NFL,” he continued.

“But I’m not done dreaming here at Clemson either, which is why I’m announcing that I’ll be returning for my senior season.

“I look forward to earning my degree from this great university and continue to fight with my brothers on the team to make you proud during the 2020 season.”

Although Clemson’s year ended on a sad note with a loss in the title game to LSU, Etienne had a great individual season.

He finished the year having recorded 1,614 yards and 19 scores on the ground, as well as 37 catches for 432 yards and four scores through the air.

Clemson was already widely regarded as the nation’s top team heading into 2020, and Etienne’s return will only cement that.
