Christian Wood’s First Reaction To Joining LeBron James, Lakers

Christian Wood's First Reaction To Joining LeBron James, Lakers

Christian Wood offered his first reaction to joining LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers this week.

On Tuesday night, word emerged that Wood would be signing a two-year, $5.7 million contract with L.A.

After months of speculation regarding whether or not Rob Pelinka would be able to close the deal, fans were excited to see it finally occur.

That said, nobody was more excited than Wood himself.

“It’s always been my dream to be a Laker,” Wood wrote on social media.

Now that dream is becoming a reality. What Wood does with the opportunity will have massive ramifications on his career going forward.

It is something of an open secret that Wood quickly fell out of favor with Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks last year.

Some have argued that Kidd just didn’t like him, for whatever reason, and that their relationship was poisoned from the jump. There seems to be some truth to that.

Nevertheless, there is also no denying that Wood is an atrocious defensive player and something of a black hole on offense. He will need to remedy both problems to some degree ahead of his looming Lakers debut.

Despite Wood’s flaws, fans seemed happy to have him.

A lot of stars have come to L.A. on the cheap after bad seasons and pumped fresh life into their careers.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope did it. Malik Monk did it. And now Wood is doing it.

Los Angeles will give him the opportunity. The rest will be up to him.

Will Wood be able to get his career back on track with the Lakers? An answer one way or the other will emerge soon enough.
