Chiefs Make Surprising Injury Update Before 49ers Game

The Chiefs made a surprising injury update before the 49ers game.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones was not fully healthy in his team’s AFC Championship Game showdown versus the Tennessee Titans.

This week, he was asked if he would be ready to go for Kansas City’s Super Bowl battle against the San Francisco 49ers.

“One thousand percent,” he replied.

That has to be music to the ears of Chiefs fans everywhere, as the team’s defense simply is not the same when Jones is not healthy.

This past season Jones participated in 13 regular season outings. On average, he played 46 snaps per game.

That all changed when he injured his calf.

From that point on, Jones was forced to miss his team’s first postseason season match-up against the Houston Texans and play just 23 snaps against the Titans.

Even in that limited capacity versus Tennessee, Jones still recorded five quarterback pressures, one quarterback hit and two tackles.

Kansas City is currently the favorite heading into the Super Bowl, but that largely presumes that all the key pieces will be healthy by gameday.

If Jones really does recover before Feb. 2, San Francisco’s offense could be in for a lot of trouble.
