Carmelo Anthony Out Of Blazers-Lakers Due To Kobe’s Death

Carmelo Anthony is out of Friday’s Blazers-Lakers game due to Kobe’s death.

Anthony and Bryant were extremely close and were reportedly planning on having dinner on Thursday of this week.

Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others died in a tragic helicopter crash this past Sunday morning.

Given how emotional the first outing since Bryant’s death will be, Anthony has chosen not to participate in the proceedings.

According to The Athletic NBA insider Shams Charania, Anthony is out Friday night for “personal reasons” and those reasons are mourning Bryant’s passing.

“NBA Insider @ShamsCharania reports Carmelo Anthony will not play Friday night against the Lakers in Los Angeles because of his continued grieving and emotions over the loss of Kobe Bryant on Sunday,” Stadium tweeted out.

Anthony was obviously expecting to see his good friend at Thursday’s game, so it is understandable that he is still too shaken up to play.

Bryant’s death has hit the entire NBA world extremely hard, but it has been particularly difficult for those that knew him well like Anthony.

The Lakers were originally scheduled to play a game against the Clippers earlier in the week, but that outing was cancelled to give everyone proper time to mourn.
