Cam Newton Reveals If He Wants To Stay With Panthers

Cam Newton reveals if he wants to stay with the Panthers in a recent interview.

The former league MVP has had a rough 2019 campaign.

After coming into the year with a lot of excitement surrounding what Carolina might be able to accomplish, Newton quickly got injured. As a result of the injury, he has remained off the field since September.

Newton’s most recent Lisfranc injury required surgery. It marked the third time in less than three years that he has been forced to go under the knife.

Based on his questionable health and the fact that he is winless in his last eight outings since 2018, many began to speculate that the Panthers might trade their franchise quarterback away.

Newton is facing the final year of his contract and brings with him a $21.1 million hit against the cap.

Because it is unclear who the next Panthers coach will be, the organization does not appear to have a clear plan on what to do with Newton.

During a recent charity event, Newton opened up about his desire to remain in Carolina. He genuinely seems to love the area and care about the franchise.

“That’s the plan. That’s where I want to be,” he said when pressed on whether he wants to remain a Panther.

“You can’t get rid of me that easily,” he joked.

Later on, Newton doubled down on that sentiment.

“Listen let me tell you something,” he told reporters later. “In order for me to leave, they got to get rid of me.”

Newton has become synonymous with the Panthers over the last decade, so the best case scenario for all involved would be him getting healthy and remaining with the team.

Should that not work out, though, there are a couple of teams in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and Denver that could badly use an upgrade at the quarterback position.

  1. They will be a fool to let Cam go he’s the best quarterback Charlotte has ever had he brings so much of excitement to the team n the Queen City itself all the children n fans love him so please think twice before you let him go let him prove himself after he heals then you make your decision

  2. Cam Newton definitely needs to go. The Panthers need a quarterback that’s a true team leader regardless of individual performance. I’ve never seen Russell Wilson pouting on the bench with his head buried underneath a towel or showboating after a simple run to obtain a first down
