Buccaneers Make Final Decision On Jameis Winston

The Buccaneers made a final decision on Jameis Winston this week.

Winston, 25, is one of the more intriguing quarterbacks in the NFL today.

On any given day he can make a difficult throw that will shock viewers or a boneheaded mistake that will leave them shaking their heads.

Winston has all the potential in the world to be a star, but it remains to be seen if he will be able to put all the pieces together.

Coming into the season on the last year of his rookie deal, Winston was aware of what he would need to do. He had to make smarter decisions, turn the ball over less and prove he is the sort of leader who can turn a floundering franchise around.

Did he prove those things? Not really.

So far this year the Florida State standout has thrown 24 picks – the highest total for him of any season thus far.

That is the bad.

The good, however, is that he has thrown for 4,573 yards and 30 scores this year.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the good outweighed the bad for Winston this year, and Tampa Bay has decided to retain his services.

The Bucs will either use a franchise tag on Winston or a transition tag.

On Saturday, Winston will get another opportunity to show what he is made of when he leads his team against the Houston Texans.
