Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell have pumped fresh life into the Los Angeles Lakers throughout the second half of the NBA season.
As such, it should come as no surprise that the pair has a ton of chemistry.
Their unique dynamic was on full display this week when cameras caught them near the bench showing off their brand new handshake.
To say it’s cold would be an understatement.

Given the amount of goodwill both Reaves and Russell have accumulated as of late, fans had a lot to say about their handshake.
They took to social media to respond.

Reaves has been a stud all year for L.A. Between his fierce defensiveness of the team and his unique ability to impress baddies sitting courtside the 24-year-old has become a huge fan favorite.
Ditto for Russell, who is much more beloved by fans during his second tour in purple and gold. Both he and his girlfriend seem to be adjusting their new surroundings extremely well.

Big picture, the Lakers are currently in the thick of the Western Conference Playoff race. At the moment just three games separate them from the fourth-place Phoenix Suns.
Will the Lakers be able to make the playoffs, shock the world and legitimately compete for an NBA championship in 2023? Time will tell, but with Reaves and Russell playing the way they have been, it’s certainly a legitimate possibility at this juncture.
