Arkansas Hiring Sam Pittman As Next Football Coach

Arkansas is hiring Sam Pittman as their next football coach.

Over the last few weeks a number of different names were linked to the vacant Razorbacks head coaching spot. There were some loud murmurs in recent days that Lane Kiffin may get hired, but he opted to go to Ole Miss instead.

The move seems to have sent Arkansas scrambling for someone.

According to Pete Thamel, Pittman to Arkansas is “90 percent done.”

Pittman is an assistant coach for Georgia with a pretty solid resume, but his only real head coaching experience is a stint with Hutchinson Junior College in 1992.

Is he the man to turn Arkansas around, though? That is going to be the question.

Chad Morris was fired due to his general ineptness, so Pittman would be wise to learn from his mistakes.

Morris went 4-18 over a span of just under two seasons with the program.

Arkansas has gone winless in the SEC since 2017. Hopefully the new head coach will be able to turn things around, but it will definitely be an uphill battle.
