Andy Dalton will be traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans or Chicago Bears come this summer.

Over the past few months it was becoming increasingly clear that Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals were headed for a separation.

Coming out of the bye week Dalton was benched in favor of rookie Ryan Finley, and all signs now point to the veteran getting moved at some point during the offseason.

“He had a great college career,” head coach Zac Taylor said of Finley.

“That’s why we drafted him. He’s got a very calm demeanor, a consistent demeanor. I think the guys will respond to that.

“He throws with great anticipation and accuracy. He’s got good touch down the field and he can extend plays in the pocket a little bit.”

Dalton, meanwhile, has too much still left in the tank to sit back and be a mentor to a young quarterback. He wants to play and he wants to win – and fortunately for him, there are several NFL teams in desperate need of quarterback help.

The three likeliest choices for Dalton: Tennessee, Tampa Bay and Chicago.

Where will Dalton ultimately end up? A lot of it likely depends on what happens with Matt Ryan and Cam Newton this summer.

If both remain with their respective squads, Dalton will likely be the biggest name available. If not, then he will probably end up with whoever does not get the other two.
