49ers Coach Abruptly Leaves After Super Bowl Loss

A 49ers coach abruptly left after Sunday’s Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

San Francisco had an objectively good season.

While the team was unable to take home the ultimate prize, coming in second place to the Chiefs is nothing to scoff at.

That said, any time a season ends, changes are made.

The same holds true for the 49ers.

On the heels of this weekend’s big outing, defensive backs coach Joe Woods is leaving the Niners and joining the Cleveland Browns.

Losing Woods is a big blow to San Francisco. His leadership was essential to one of the league’s best defenses.

Now he will look to have the same sort of impact in Cleveland, being named as the Browns’ new defensive coordinator.

Although this move is not a shock, it is still a blow to the Niners.

“Now that the Super Bowl is over, the Browns are hiring Joe Woods as their defensive coordinator,” Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com wrote.

It is said that Niners management made a strong effort to retain Woods, but ultimately they simply could not match Cleveland’s offer of a promotion.

What sort of impact will Woods ultimately have on the Browns defense?

We’ll find out in just a few months.
