The Indianapolis Colts are making a big move.

While questions still remain about the quarterback situation, it appears Indianapolis wants to lock up other portions of the offense.

According to Jim Ayello of the Indy Star, the Colts are about to offer running back Marlon Mack a contract extension.

The 24-year-old is fresh off the first 1,000 yard rushing campaign of his career and is set to make roughly $2.3 million next season.

This past season, he recorded 1,091 yards and eight scores on 247 rushing attempts. Over the course of 14 outings, he amassed an average of 4.4 yards per carry.

At the end of the 2019-20 season, general manager Chris Ballard offered effusive praise to the young running back.

“Part of our offseason evaluation (is), we know, we’re going to try to take care of our own, so who are guys that we want to extend?” Ballard said of center Ryan Kelly, before then mentioning Mack.

“Marlon, look, he easily could have missed more games (with a broken hand), but he didn’t.

“He fought to get back in because he wanted to play.”

Mack, meanwhile, also seems to really enjoy being a member oif the Colts.

“I want to be right here,” Mack said.

“I love it here. Love everyone here.”
Mack will likely receive an extension in the four-year, $26 million range.

Final word on what Mack’s deal will look like should come at some point in the next few days.
