1 Key Priority Signing For Lakers In Free Agency

1 Key Priority Signing For Lakers In Free Agency

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a disastrous 2021-22 NBA campaign.

Now the question is: what can they do to right the ship?

Trading away Russell Westbrook to any one of the four teams that apparently want him is a good first step.

After that?

According to  Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report, there is one player the Lakers should make a priority to sign heading into free agency: Bryn Forbes.

“Some might want the Los Angeles Lakers to aim higher, but they shot for the moon with the Russell Westbrook trade last offseason, and we all saw how that turned out,” he wrote.

“This is a back-to-basics suggestion, a return to what we know works well for a team that employs LeBron James. Shooting is paramount for L.A., and Bryn Forbes is arguably the best gunner on the market.

“The 28-year-old won’t contribute defensively, but he’s a 41.3 percent shooter from long distance for his career, and he’s more than a standstill threat. Forbes’ 2.5 points per game off screens with the Denver Nuggets ranked sixth in the league this season.”

Clearly the Lakers have some big decisions to make in the coming weeks and months.

Rumors surrounding a potential Anthony Davis trade are intensifying. LeBron James seems to be eyeing his next move. No prominent coach seems to want to take this unit over. Westbrook, as mentioned, will be a disaster so long as he is in purple and gold.

The Lakers have a lot of problems.

Will Forbes be the solution to any of them? Time will tell.
