1 Big Russell Wilson Trade Frontrunner Emerging

The relationship between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks has soured very quickly.

What started out with Wilson expressing some offensive line grievances rapidly spiraled into what now appears to be an inevitable trade situation.

This week ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler offered his thoughts on the whole saga and revealed one current frontrunner in the Russell Wilson Sweepstakes.

“I expect the Chicago Bears to at least take their shot here because a source told me Russell Wilson likes that they have an emerging offensive line, a good offensive-mind in Matt Nagy, and an intriguing market in Chicago,” he said.

Fowler’s commentary aligns with a report from Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

“The thinking among multiple sources is the Bears have prioritized making a run at Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson,” he wrote.

“His agent included the team on a list of four clubs Wilson would approve a trade to, although it hasn’t yet reached the point where he’s asked out. Two of the other three teams on Wilson’s list probably can be ruled out. The New Orleans Saints are mired in salary-cap hell and the Dallas Cowboys are expected to keep Dak Prescott. The fourth is the Las Vegas Raiders, and they’ve showed strong public support for Derek Carr.”

Ex-Bears lineman Kyle Long hinted this week that his former team was gearing up for a big move.

Two years ago, Wilson received an extension that paid him a then-NFL record $35 million annually. The assumption at the time was that he would finish his career in Seattle.

Now it’s looking like that will not be the case.

Between Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers being named in a potential four-team trade, a possibly huge Odell Beckham Jr. deal brewing and now this Wilson situation – it’s gearing up to be an exciting few months to be an NFL fan.
