When Is Baseball Coming Back? MLB Targeting May 2020

When is baseball coming back? The MLB is reportedly targeting May 2020 as its ideal date. Whether that will ultimately materialize or not remains to be seen.

League commissioner Rob Manfred appeared on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt this week and discussed when he envisioned the MLB returning.

“Look, my optimistic outlook is that at some point in May, we’ll be gearing back up,” Manfred told Van Pelt.

“We’ll have to make a determination, depending what the precise date is, as to how much of a preparation period we need, whether that preparation period is gonna be done in the clubs’ home cities or back in Florida and Arizona.

“Again, I think the goal would be to get as many regular-season games as possible, and think creatively about how we can accomplish that goal.”

Much obviously depends on what happens with coronavirus in the coming weeks, but if baseball does return in just a couple of fans, sports fans will be extremely happy.
