Victor Oladipo was traded to the Houston Rockets in the four-team deal that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets.
Initially there was some hope that he would remain in Houston, fill the hole left behind by Harden, and prove to be a star the franchise could build around.
However, it quickly became apparent that likely wouldn’t be the case.
Oladipo’s brutally honest comments about his future with the organization, coupled with his uneven play, made it clear that a long-term relationship probably wasn’t in the cards.
This week, Oladipo spoke to the media following a Rockets shootaround regarding how he’s still in the process of figuring things out with his new squad.
“Everything’s different,” he said, per Adam Spolane of SportsRadio 610. “I gotta constantly adjust, and just gotta keep playing hard and just go out there and be aggressive and everything else will take care of itself.”

While he has an optimistic attitude regarding everything, Oladipo still maintains that things have been very ‘different.’
“It’s been different,” Oladipo said. “Adjusting. Being at the point and not being at the point. Certain guys out, certain guys in, different places, where my spot (on the floor) is going to be, but at the end of the day I have to have the same mentality.”
Obviously this isn’t the first time Oladipo has been dealt, but there’s something about this particular experience that diverges from past ones.

“Before I was traded in summertime, so I had time to get acclimated, training camps and all that, being traded in the middle of the year is different,” he continued.
“It’s an adjustment, but it’s nothing I can’t handle. I just gotta go out there and have the same approach, same mindset every night. Just go out there, have fun, play as hard as I can on both ends of the floor, and everything else to take care of itself.”
Last week, three legitimate trade suitors emerged for a potential deal involving Oladipo. Barring something crazy happening and the Rockets going on an insane run, all signs point to Oladipo playing for a different squad come this time next year.
