Dave Portnoy Reacts To Barstool’s Kaepernick Controversy
Dave Portnoy has responded to Barstool Sports’ latest controversy.
On Sunday, Twitter unearthed an old video in which he, Dan ‘Big Cat’ Katz and Kevin ‘KFC’ Clancy discuss Colin Kaepernick, Palestinians and Arabs in a way that some find distasteful.
As a result, some on social media are calling for their cancellation – because that is the time we live in now.
Shortly after the video came out, Portnoy came out and strongly defended his brand against any accusations of bigotry or hate.
Memo to the cancel cops. I knew this was coming before you did. And I’m ready. You don’t cancel me. I cancel you. #CamNewton #DDTG #SUPERBOWL #FUCKCORONA #stocksonlygoup pic.twitter.com/JmuDQhbzXf

Portnoy also fired back at Jemele Hill, who responded to the video by indicating that she would expect nothing less from the Barstool brand.
This is where I remind people that Robert Kraft is friends with Donald Trump and gave to his campaign. It’s incredible the Kraft family is doing this, but hope they understand their money helped empower their ✌🏾friend✌🏾 https://t.co/IytC5C5bIX

What’s terrible is altering and cutting up a comedy sites video and giving no other context. Why was this part cut out? Oh because it didn’t fit the agenda. https://t.co/cPsk3wL8MD pic.twitter.com/9IwKZiOeU5

Portnoy was not the only Barstool employee to defend the company. Clancy also spoke out on Monday.
Based on everything we have seen and heard from Barstool and its fan base up to this point, it is safe to assume that this most recent controversy likely will not do any real long-term damage.
