Tyronn Lue Explains Real Reason Behind Rajon Rondo-Chris Paul Beef

Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul are two sides of the same coin.

Rondo is known for being brutally honest, getting under opposing players’ skins, and making headlines off the court.

Paul, meanwhile, is known for being brutally honest, getting under opposing players’ skins, and making headlines off the court.

What happens when two personalities like that collide? This:

This past week, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in a match-up between Western Conference titans.

After the fact, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue addressed the lingering beef that has existed and continues to exist between Rondo and Paul.

“I think when you play against yourself, you’re always going to have a problem,” Lue explained. “And I think those are two throwback point guards who hate to lose and compete at a high level and dominate the game with their pass. They just hate to lose.”

As far as Lue is concerned, the primary reason the two don’t like each other is all the similarities they share.

“They’re really the same person, so I think when you’re competing against yourself, you’re gonna have controversy and that’s kind of what happened with those two guys. I know the respect is there for sure, because of what both of those guys have done in the league and throughout the course of their careers. Both those guys hate losing and compete at a high level.”

A face-off between Rondo and Paul is all but a foregone conclusion come playoff time.

What sort of fireworks will we see from the pair down the line? Time will tell.
