Tua Tagovailoa Reveals His 2020 NFL Draft Status

Tua Tagovailoa reveals his 2020 NFL draft status during a recent interview.

Coming into the season Tagovailoa was widely regarded as the best quarterback set to be available in the upcoming draft.

While that conversation widened a bit to include Joe Burrow over the course of the year, his status as a top-tier star remained intact.

Unfortunately, Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending hip injury one month ago that left his status as a top pick very much in doubt.

During a recent interview, Tagovailoa was pressed on whether he still had plans to come out in this year’s draft.

“The deadline is between now and January 20 (when players must announce for the draft),” he replied.

“I’m still talking with my parents about it. I’m still not too sure. A decision could come tomorrow or I could wait and decide on the 20th of January.”

According to most analysts, Tagovailoa would still be a first round pick if he came out this year – but it remains to be seen where in the order he would fall.

Then again, returning for one more season would open Tagovailoa to the risk of further injury, so it is unclear whether that is a path he would legitimately consider pursuing.
