Tate Martell Speaks Out About Transferring From Miami

Tate Martell speaks out about transferring from Miami.

Martell, one of the best high school quarterbacks to come out his year, has had a rough go of things in college football.

He initially went to Ohio State but could not win playing time. A transfer to Miami was supposed to change that, but he ultimately could not carve out a role for himself there either.

After a failed switch to wide receiver, Martell ultimately took a leave from the football team – leading many to speculate that he might be done with the program for good.

This week, he decided to address those rumors in a statement.

“For those asking:

I’m not transferring from the University of Miami. My leave of absence is due (to) person(al) reasons.

At this time, I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to discuss these reasons.

There might be a time, down the road, when I believe it is appropriate to talk about this publicly.

For the time being, I need some time to focus on these issues.

I wish my boys nothing but the best tomorrow against Duke. #gocanes.”

Will Martell stay at Miami long-term or is this simply a temporary break from another inevitable transfer?

We’ll find out soon enough.
