Russell Wilson Indicates Drew Brees May Retire

Russell Wilson indicated Drew Brees may retire with his recent actions.

Brees is going to be an unrestricted free agent this off season. He has already made it abundantly clear that he is only considering two options at this point: retirement or returning to the New Orleans Saints.

A final decision is expected to come at some point within the next month, but on Sunday we got a little hint as to which direction he is leaning in.

Before the Pro Bowl, Wilson, who was supposed to be the NFC’s starter, gave up his starting spot to Brees.

Many took it to mean that Brees may be playing in his final Pro Bowl this year.

While it is possible that Wilson was simply choosing to pay respect to a veteran, people are still reading a lot into the gesture.

“I’m really waiting until football is totally done,” Brees said.

“Obviously being here, I’m just very much focused on my family and this opportunity to be around the guys, playing the game.

“Then, I’ll kind of lay low for a little bit, get away and then assess. I kind of have a process in mind. And I’ll give it a month or so.”

Brees will likely make a final decision on his playing status at some point at the start of March.
