Ron Rivera Makes First Big Move As Redskins Coach

Ron Rivera made his first big move as Redskins coach on Tuesday.

Washington made headlines this week, hiring the former Carolina Panthers head coach to rebuild the team’s culture and start the new decade on the right foot.

Rivera got the ball rolling immediately, making his first big hire on January 1.

According to NFL ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Rivera is hiring former Oakland Raiders head coach Jake Del Rio to be his new defensive coordinator.

Between Rivera and Del Rio Washington suddenly has two of the best defensive minds in the NFL on the sidelines.

Rivera parted ways with the Panthers late last season after guiding the organization to four playoff appearances and one Super Bowl.

Coming into Black Monday, Rivera was widely regarded as the best coaching candidate available.
