Real Reason Alex Rodriguez And Jennifer Lopez Broke Up

Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez officially broke up for good on Thursday.

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” they said in a joint statement to People Magazine.

“We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have is to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

There were reports back in March that they had called off their engagement, but the pair quickly fight back, arguing that they “never officially broke up” and were still together.

That didn’t last long, though.

The sudden break-up and subsequent announcement on Thursday prompted many to ask: what led to this?

Officially, Rodriguez and Lopez maintain that there was no specific controversial incident that led to the move.

“They hit a rough patch that made them think about what they should do,” a source told TODAY.

However, rumors have run rampant for months now that cheating is at the core of this.

“Just before the break up rumors started swirling, allegations of A-Rod cheating with Southern Charm star, Madison LeCroy, began surfacing online,” Cosmopolitan reported.

“Back in January, a preview of the Southern Charm reunion aired in which star Craig Conover accused Madison of being a “f*cking homewrecker” after she cheated on his friend, Austen Kroll, by having an affair with an unnamed major league baseball player.”

For what it’s worth, LeCroy sort of denied that anything real happened.

“FWIW, Madison denied the cheating rumors altogether and told Page Six that Alex ‘never physically cheated on his fiancée with me’ (interesting wording),” the report continued.

So was cheating the cause? A true answer may never officially emerge. You will recall, many months ago Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley were accused of some tawdry stuff, but nothing concrete ever came out. Then they got engaged a little while later and no one was the wiser.

Something similar will likely happen here. People will have their suspicions regarding what led to the break-up, but a real answer will probably never be announced.
