Raptors Kyle Lowry Says He’s Getting Traded

Kyle Lowry is without question one of the greatest players in Toronto Raptors history. Despite that, his time with the organization is inevitably going to come to an end soon.

Toronto is clearly entering a rebuilding phase. A veteran 34-year-old point guard simply has no place with this group. Moreover, the Raptors don’t particularly need him anymore. The team is 16-0 in its last 16 outings without Lowry.

This week, Ryen Russillo appeared on ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast’ and revealed that Lowry has been going around and telling people that he is going to get traded.

“The word on that is that Lowry has been telling everybody for a month that he’s getting traded, which is interesting that he’s already like ‘yeah, I’m out of here,’” Russillo said.

“So I don’t know if that’s him saying it, I don’t know if that’s some understanding that he has with the front office, I don’t know that part of it but whenever you ask about Lowry, he thinks he’s leaving. I think they should trade him, by the way.”

Lowry’s one-year, $30.5 million contract is up at the end of this season. Currently he is averaging 18.0 points, 7.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 40.3 percent from three.

At the moment, there are two clear favorites to make a trade for him. The Los Angeles Lakers also continue to hover in the background.

Will something get done before the deadline on March 25?

Time will tell.
