Rams Trading Brandin Cooks, Todd Gurley
The Los Angeles Rams are trading wide receiver Brandin Cooks and running back Todd Gurley. The moves are coming soon.
Not long ago, the Rams lost to the New England Patriots in a lackluster Super Bowl and were viewed by many as a potentially long-term NFC Championship contender.
Things have quickly changed since then.
Following a failed season last year, Los Angeles finds itself in cost-cutting mode. Part of that is the byproduct of the team’s decision to make quarterback Jared Goff one of the league’s highest paid players.
As a result, the team is now looking to move two of its most notable offensive stars.
On Thursday, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reported that Cooks an Gurley are now officially available to be traded. The expectation is that moving these two will free the Rams up financially to some degree.
Aside from Todd Gurley, the Rams have also made Brandin Cooks available in a trade as they attempt to trim salary and restock their draft picks, per source.

Last season, Cooks amassed 538 yards and two scores on 42 catches. The low production was the result of him having to miss serious time over a concussion.
Gurley, meanwhile, recorded 857 rushing yards and 12 scores last year. His production was down from his All-Pro prior seasons due a lingering knee injury.
Gurley is presently in the third year of a $57.5 million contract. His cap hit next year is $17.25 million.
While at the moment it is unclear where either man will be traded, them getting moved sooner rather than later appears to be inevitable.
