Rams Preparing To Trade Todd Gurley To Buccaneers

The Los Angeles Rams are preparing to trade Todd Gurley to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it would appear.

On Monday, Michael Silver of NFL.com reported that Gurley’s name was being brought up in trade conversations. Although his hefty contract was a deal breaker for some organizations who might otherwise be interested in his talents, that was not the case for all teams.

One party that may be interested is the same one that has been frequently linked to Tom Brady in recent weeks – the Buccaneers.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, Tampa Bay would be an excellent fit for Gurley for a myriad of reasons.

“A team w/ the cap room to trade for the contract of #Rams’ Todd Gurley? The Buccaneers,” he tweeted out.

“If Tampa Bay thinks he’s healthy enough for a gamble, a deal for Gurley could boost a Tom Brady pitch, too. Gurley’s deal easy for suitors to exit in 2021, too. No risk it, no biscuit, right?”

Gurley is an interesting case. One year ago the then-24-year-old was coming off consecutive 1000-yard campaigns and led the league in rushing scores on two separate occasions. He looked like an absolute stud. Then he fell off a cliff, production-wise.

Last season, he only carried the ball 223 times and seemed perpetually hobbled by a knee injury.

If the Buccaneers or any other team that may be interested in Gurley legitimately feel like his health issues are behind him and last season was an aberration, then getting him now for a bargain price might be the way to go.

Should people have doubts, however, then the Rams will likely have a tough time moving him.
