Raiders WR Henry Ruggs Facing 20 Years In Prison Over Fatal DUI

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a fatal car accident this week.

According to ESPN, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was called to respond to a crash that occurred “near the intersection of South Rainbow Boulevard and South Spring Valley Parkway, involving a Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota Rav4.”

By the time police arrived, the Toyota was ablaze.

“Fire department personnel responded and located a deceased woman inside the Toyota,” the ESPN report continued. “The preliminary investigation indicates the front of the Chevrolet collided with the rear of the Toyota.”

“Ruggs will be charged with DUI resulting in death. This is an on-going investigation,” the Las Vegas Metro PD said in its statement on the matter.

A DUI resulting in death is punishable by two to 20 years in prison.

Ruggs was drafted No. 12 overall by the Raiders back in 2020 after a successful stint with Alabama.

After recording 452 receiving yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season, Ruggs broke out in 2021 with 469 yards and a team-high two scores through the first seven games of the season.

Between the controversy surrounding former head coach Jon Gruden, the subsequent questions involving his son Deuce, and the Carl Nassib debacle – this had already been a nightmare year for the Raiders.

Somehow, a horrific season just got a lot worse.
