Pirates Trading Starling Marte To Mets?
Are the Pirates trading Starling Marte to the Mets?
Earlier this week New York pulled a big move when the team came to an agreement with reliever Dellin Betances.
Now it appears the Mets are looking to address another area of concern. As it turns out, coming within just three games of the playoffs really lit a fire under the organization.
According to Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York have had conversations regarding a potential transaction for Marte.
Although Heyman insists that nothing is immediately pending, the conversations do appear to have been serious.
Should the Pirates agree to send Marte over, Mets outfielder Brandon Ninmo would almost certainly have to be part of the deal.
No evidence anything is close but at some point Mets and Pirates exchanged names on proposed Starling Marte trade. Brandon Nimmo’s name came up but Pirates may prefer prospects. Other teams known to have checked on Marte: Padres, D-Backs, Rangers, others.

Marte, 31, is a former All-Star and two-time Gold Glover.
This past season Marte had something of a career year, hitting .295 with 23 homers and 82 RBIs.
Marte is owed $11.5 million next year and has a $12.5 million team option set for 2021.
