Phillies, Nationals, Cubs Working On Big Trade

The Phillies, Nationals and Cubs are working on a big trade.

With Mookie Betts having been dealt, everyone is now awaiting the next big baseball swap.

Now that the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox are likely done making big moves, all eyes turn to Philadelphia, Washington and Chicago.

Kris Bryant has found himself at the center of trade rumors over the last few months.

As the regular season creeps closer to its beginning, the likelihood of him getting dealt is slowly increasing.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, both Philly and Washington very interested in the third baseman.

“Now, Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is on the trade clock with the Phillies and Nats showing at least exploratory interest,” he tweeted out.

Bryant lost a grievance he filled against Chicago last week.

In the grievance, he looked for extra service time. His loss means he remains under contract for two more years.

Theoretically that makes Bryant’s deal more appealing in a potential swap.

The 28-year-old batted .282 with 31 homers and 77 RBIs through 147 outings for the Cubs this past year.

Presumably he could make a big difference for any organization that ultimately opts to trade for him, but Chicago does not have any real incentive to rush into a deal.

Will something ultimately get done? We should find out sooner rather than later.
