Pelicans Eyeing 3 Big NBA Trades Ahead Of Deadline

The New Orleans Pelicans are 20-32 and sit 11th in the Western Conference.

After going 4-6 in their last 10 games, this team appears set to make some big moves ahead of next week’s NBA Trade Deadline.

The Pelicans have made it something of an open secret that there is one player they would really like to pair with Zion Williamson.

But that isn’t the lone move the front office is eyeing.

According to HoopsHype NBA insider Michael Scotto, the Pelicans are looking to make some big deals over the next week.

“The New Orleans Pelicans appear to be buyers heading into the trade deadline and have expressed interest in trading for several players, including Harrison Barnes, Robert Covington and Eric Gordon, league sources told HoopsHype.

“Rival executives also believe Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jaxson Hayes are both available for the right upgrade as well. According to multiple executives, the Pelicans are more willing to listen on moving Alexander-Walker than in the past.

“Josh Hart is also a player to keep an eye on, thanks to his team-friendly contract, which is non-guaranteed next season, as noted on our Pelicans salary page. Some teams have liked him from afar. One of those teams is Atlanta.”

Williamson’s most recent troubling health update was thought to be something that could throw a wrench into New Orleans’ future plans, but that appears not to be the case.

The front office seems to be proceeding with the idea that Williamson will remain the franchise cornerpiece for years to come.

Will that bet ultimately pay off? Time will tell.
