Paul Finebaum Has Message For LSU, Ed Orgeron

Paul Finebaum has a message for LSU and Ed Orgeron ahead of their National Championship Game.

That message? You better win.

Heading into Monday night’s big showdown, Finebaum believes there is far more on the line for LSU and its head coach than for the opposition.

In Finebaum’s estimation, Dabo Swinney and Clemson’s legacy is secure at this point. Adding a third title in four years would be impressive, but not necessary.

LSU, however has not won a championship in more than a decade.

Finebaum thinks that if LSU fails to emerge victorious against Clemson, the program risks becoming another Georgia.

He points to the fact that Bulldogs have not been back in the title picture since getting beaten by Alabama two years back.

“Not to take anything away from Ed Orgeron, but he has to win tonight,” Finebaum said on WJOX.

“Ask Georgia fans how much they remember and reminisce about the 2017 SEC Championship and the Rose Bowl Championship because they didn’t win the national championship.

“I think that is on the line right now for LSU. To be considered what they want to be, they need a title tonight. They just can’t show up and look like the Baltimore Ravens Saturday night.”

With Joe Burrow leaving for the NFL Draft after this outing, this is undoubtedly Coach O’s best opportunity to win a title in the near future.

Will he be able to get it done? Time will tell.
