Pau Gasol is a Los Angeles Lakers legend. Now the 40-year-old is gearing up for one final NBA comeback – and he hopes it will be with the team that he won two championships with.
“There is meaning and history there,” he said.
“I’m not going to lie. It would be very special, and now that my brother [Marc Gasol] is there, even more special. But I’m not in a position now to be very demanding. I don’t have 10 offers on the table.”
Above all else, Gasol wants to be able to contribute to the Lakers if given the opportunity to wear the purple and gold again.
“I want the opportunity to contribute — to feel needed,” Gasol said. “Not just to be there. That’s not who I am. I want to enjoy it, and players usually enjoy playing.”
Will the Lakers ultimately give Gasol a shot? Time will tell.
