Panthers Make Surprising Cam Newton Decision

The Panthers have made a surprising Cam Newton decision.

For much of the year the big question surrounding Carolina has been what they plan to do with their MVP quarterback.

When Newton went down with an injury at the beginning of the season the Panthers inserted Kyle Allen in his place and received decent results.

At that point there were some murmurs that Carolina may trade Newton during the offseason, since the team was getting arguably better production for a significantly cheaper price.

Unfortunately, the momentum from the Allen Era died a quick death and the Panthers currently find themselves on a five-loss losing streak.

Now, with Allen no longer seeming like the cheap golden boy who will take Carolina into the next decade, Newton’s departure no longer seems like an inevitability.

“Just spoke to a source inside the Panthers front office re: David Tepper’s position on Cam Newton,” Kyle Bailey ‏of WFNZ tweeted out.

“Tepper has apparently made it clear that he prefers a healthy Cam to be his starting QB next season and that their relationship is an extremely positive one.”

At the end of the day it will be much harder for Carolina to find a franchise quarterback than a lot of people realize. Allen does not seem like he is that guy.

Based on that, it is clear that they would be far better off with a healthy Newton than any other alternative.
