From November 2014 to August 2016 VanZant went 5-1, with the one loss coming to current champ Rose Namajunas. In many people’s eyes, Namajunas is the division GOAT. There is no shame in losing to her. Nobody ever expected VanZant to advance as far as she did when she was starting out.
And that is why her popularity never waned.
