Patrick Mahomes Has Special Trick Play For Super Bowl

Patrick Mahomes has a special trick play for the Super Bowl, it appears.

Heading into Super Bowl LIV, it is clear who the better quarterback is.

Jimmy Garoppolo is a solid game manager and has done well leading the San Francisco 49ers offense this year, but everyone knows head coach Kyle Shanahan is the driving force behind that team.

Conversely, the Kansas City Chiefs are nothing without Mahomes. He fuels the offense and is unquestionably the biggest reason why the team has reached the heights it has reached.

According to a recent report from James Palmer of the NFL Network, Mahomes wants to add a bit of razzle dazzle to his looming Super Bowl LIV showing.

“According to several Chiefs players and coaches I spoke to this week, there’s one jaw-dropping act Mahomes has been working on for years behind closed doors,” Palmer notes.

“The question is, will the former MVP decide to unveil it to the millions watching Super Bowl LIV on Sunday?”

What is this magical play that Mahomes has been practicing?

It is reportedly a behind-the-back number that would wow anyone who sees it.

“Players catch thousands of balls throughout an NFL season between games, practices and workouts,” he continued.

“For Chiefs receivers, though, it’s not uncommon for these passes to hit them via a behind-the-back throw.”

Unfortunately, it appears as though Kansas City is not ready to play it dangerous in its biggest game of the year.

Speaking to the media, backup quarterback Chad Henne indicated that head coach Andy Reid is not a fan of installing the trick play in a real game situation.

“[Mahomes] tries it all the time because he keeps lobbying for coach Reid to put it in the system,” he said.

“He tells coach Reid, ‘I can option this way and then throw it back this way’, and I’m like, ‘Ahhh, let’s just take care of the ball.’”

While the odds appear to be against Mahomes busting out his trick play in this particular outing, it will all likely depend on how the game is going.

If by some off chance Kansas City goes up big, don’t be surprised to see Mahomes reach into his bag of tricks to wow the crowd.

Super Bowl LIV kicks off from Miami, Florida on Sunday, February 2 at 3:30 pm PT.
