Teddy Bridgewater’s Carolina Panthers Contract Revealed

Teddy Bridgewater’s Carolina Panthers contract was revealed on Tuesday afternoon. The former backup is getting paid, big time.

Over the course of his relatively young career Bridgewater served as a starter for the Minnesota Vikings and then a backup for New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.

The latter run was particularly successful, as he got to fill in for an injured Drew Brees for five outings last year. He went undefeated in those games and did so on nearly 70 percent passing.

As a result, he was rewarded with his quality play with a massive contract from the Panthers.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Bridgewater’s new deal will pay him $63 million over the course of three years. That is huge.

Essentially, new Panthers head coach Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Joe Brady are betting that Bridgewater will be able to do what Cam Newton would not be able to do.

Whether or not that bet ultimately turns out to be a wise one remains to be seen.
