The 2025 NFL Draft is shaping up to be a pivotal moment for teams in need of a franchise quarterback.
Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders has emerged as a top prospect, drawing attention from struggling teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants.
Both organizations find themselves at the bottom of the league standings, potentially positioning them for an early draft selection.
As the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, Shedeur has garnered significant interest from NFL scouts and analysts. His performance at Colorado has solidified his status as a potential first-round pick, with some even speculating he could be the first player chosen.
The Raiders and Giants, both grappling with quarterback issues, are closely monitoring Sanders’ progress as they eye a potential franchise-altering selection in the upcoming draft.

That said, Shedeur has one clear preference as far as where he would like to play in the NFL.
“There is a long way to go until the draft,” ESPN beat writer Jordan Raanan wrote this week.
“A lot can happen, including changes with the Giants coach and front office. Nothing can completely be taken off the table staring a potential 2-14 season in the face.
“If (Giants GM Joe) Schoen were let go, that could change the team’s plans depending on his successor. Multiple sources close to Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado program also believe his preference would be to land in Las Vegas.”
Giants and Raiders Struggle with Organizational Instability
The New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders have faced significant challenges over the past decade. Both teams have only reached the playoffs twice since 2012, highlighting their struggles to build consistent success.
The Giants’ coaching carousel has been particularly notable. Since Tom Coughlin’s departure in 2015, the team has cycled through five different head coaches. This constant turnover has made it difficult for the Giants to establish a coherent long-term strategy or team identity.
The Raiders have experienced similar instability, also employing five head coaches during the same period. This lack of continuity has impacted both franchises’ ability to develop players and implement sustainable systems.

These organizational issues have frustrated their respective fan bases. Giants fans have watched their team struggle to find a worthy successor to Eli Manning, with Daniel Jones proving ultimately to be a bust. Raiders supporters have endured multiple relocations alongside the on-field disappointments.
As both teams currently share the NFL’s worst record, they find themselves in prime position for high draft picks. However, their recent track records raise questions about their ability to capitalize on these opportunities and turn their fortunes around.
