Jarvis Landry Wears Black Panther Cleats For Browns vs Bengals

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry is bringing out a pair of very special custom cleats on Thursday night.

When the Browns square off against the Cincinnati Bengals, Landry will be sporting a unique dedication to ‘Black Panther’ himself, the recently departed Chadwick Boseman.

Footwear artist Dan ‘Mache’ Gamache is the man behind the design.

He previously created a special set of Kobe Bryant tribute cleats for Landry ahead of his Week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Boseman passed away at the age of 43 on August 28 following a very quiet, but long battle with colon cancer.

Because of his memorable role as T’Challa in Black Panther, he become something of a revered symbol of power and excellence within the sports community.

After his passing, countless athletes emerged to pay tribute to Boseman.

“You brought millions and millions of people together to be entertained, educated, to see ourselves, make us laugh, smile, and feel empowered,” Serena Williams wrote on Twitter after his death. “Thank you. Chadwick forever.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes called Boseman a “genuine” and “great” person.

Countless athletes, including LeBron James and Lewis Hamilton, adopted the “Wakanda Forever” celebration in his honor.

Landry’s gesture is not the first to pay tribute to Boseman, but is still immensely meaningful.

Landry and the Browns will kick off against the Bengals at 5:20 pm PT on NBC.
