Arch Manning Is the Quarterback Everyone Is Watching Heading Into the 2027 NFL Draft

Arch Manning is the most talked-about name heading into the 2027 NFL Draft, and the conversation has been intensifying since spring practices wrapped up.
The Texas quarterback is at the top of nearly every early mock draft. The Jets, Browns and a few other QB-needy teams are circling, and the projections vary on exactly where he lands. What does not vary is the consensus that he is the headliner of the class.
The numbers tell part of the story. Manning finished 2025 with 3,163 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He added 399 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground. That dual-threat profile, at 6-foot-4 and 219 pounds, is exactly what NFL teams are looking for in a modern franchise quarterback.
The arm is real. Manning can access all three levels of the field. He has the velocity to drive the ball into tight windows and the touch to drop it over linebackers. His ability to create with his legs adds another dimension that scouts love.
The questions are mechanical. Manning’s footwork has been inconsistent, and his release has wandered when he is under pressure. That kind of issue is fixable, but it is also the kind of thing that can hurt a quarterback against NFL defenses if it is not cleaned up before he goes pro.
The bloodlines are obvious. Peyton, Eli and the entire Manning football family give him a head start on understanding the game at the highest level. That kind of background does not guarantee anything, but it eliminates a lot of the noise that other young quarterbacks have to deal with as they navigate the draft process.
The 2027 class is going to be deep at quarterback. CBS Sports has projected as many as six quarterbacks going in the first round, with Manning at the top. Dante Moore from Oregon is the other top name. Other prospects could rise as the college season plays out.
The Jets are a particularly interesting team to watch. Their quarterback situation has been unsettled. They have not had a true franchise quarterback in years. If they end up with the No. 1 pick, Manning would be the most logical selection. He would fit the offensive identity, the media market and the timeline of where the franchise is heading.
The Browns also need a quarterback. Their handling of the position has been a long-running issue. Drafting Manning would be the kind of move that resets the franchise’s trajectory, and Cleveland has been positioning itself for a high pick.
The variables are all about 2026. Manning has to play a full season at Texas, stay healthy and put up the kind of numbers that match the projections. If he does that, he is the No. 1 pick. If he stumbles or gets hurt, the door opens for Moore or another quarterback to rise.
For now, the assumption is that he plays the way everyone expects and becomes the No. 1 overall pick. He has the resources to do it. Texas is a top-tier program with elite NIL money, top recruits and a strong supporting cast. The offensive line is solid. The receivers are good. The schedule is manageable.
Mock drafts are usually wrong, but the Manning hype is built on real production and real projection. The 2027 NFL Draft starts with him, and the rest of the league is already planning around it.
