NFL Training Camp: When Does It Start?

When is NFL training camp starting? The end of July is currently looking like the likeliest option.

The growing assumption around the league at the moment is that players will not be reporting to camp early. That means veterans would not have to arrive until July 28. From there, any subsequent ramp-up period would occur.

In addition, all signs point to preseason being shortened in some capacity. Details on how specifically it will be shortened remain unclear.

Some of this is obviously outside of the NFL’s control. If coronavirus cases continue to spike and the NBA and MLB begin to regret their decisions to resume play, football could delay things as well.

That said, for now at least, it looks like things will begin returning to normal at the end of July and the NFL season should commence on time.

On Thursday, the NFL announced that August’s scheduled Hall of Fame game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys was cancelled.
